The adjustable footplate also gives you the ability makes the exercise much more friendly on the knees. You can perform squats facing either direction. Facing front will put more emphasis on the quads. Facing to the back will put more emphasis on the glutes, hams and hips. The hack squat is a very effective tool for building the legs.
