The Pro 2 line by Life Fitness is by far, my personal favorite and this seems to be the case all around. I like it because they are designed well, built like tanks, are super smooth and still have some of that hardcore factor that is lacking today. In addition to them having the hardcore factor, they are also beautiful, have small footprints and aren’t intimidating to women or the beginning user.

Hammer Strength Linear Counter Balanced Platinum Smith Machine
Hammer Strength linear counter balanced smith machine. This is the holy grail of smith machines and is built like a tank. 4 sets of bearings make the machine extremely smooth. The bar will go all the way to the floor on this model. Unlike other smith machines, the bar will only go right below the knees. This is huge in that you're able to perform deadlifts and bent rows, in addition to the other hundreds of exercises with this machine, in a safe manner.
